Getting Ready in a Rush – Here are 7 Things Men Must Do Before Leaving the House
Many of us lead busy lives, and we like to spend as little time as necessary to get ready for our day. However, having good hygiene is important. It makes social and business interactions easier, and it also is important to our overall health and well-being.
The best hygiene routine is one that covers all of the important areas and one that you can keep consistently. Being in a rush, you probably think that you don’t have time for a thorough hygiene routine. You may be surprised to know that a thorough hygiene routine does not take a ton of time and can be done in less time than it takes for us to check our social media feed.
To learn more life hacks like this one, make sure to check out the Dr. Squatch blog.
Showering the Right Way
Every daily grooming routine starts with a shower, but are you showering the right way? By that, we are asking if you are using soap that’s good for your skin or if you are using chemical-filled store brand soap or body wash? Consider switching over to Dr. Squatch natural soap for your daily shower.
Natural soaps do more than clean your skin. They infuse nutrients into your skin to help keep it healthy, and with the inclusion of glycerin, your skin isn’t going to dry out like with commercial sops. As a result, you may find yourself having to use less lotion or moisturizer.

An added benefit of Dr. Squatch natural soap is that you will have a manly scent from essential oils and other natural ingredients, not man-made “fragrances” that smell anything but natural.
You Don’t Need to Shampoo Every Day
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need to shampoo every day. The most you should shampoo is three times a week. That’s because shampoos strip the natural oils out of your hair and can damage your hair over time.
The best solution is to use a natural shampoo from Dr. Squatch. These shampoos act like their soaps, helping to nourish your scalp and helping to keep your hair healthy and soft. Even then, you don’t need to use it any more than three times a week, sometimes less depending on your hair type.
In between shampooings, Dr. Squatch natural conditioner is a great option. It will help cleanse your hair while moisturizing your scalp.
Post Shower Nail Check
Once you’re done with the shower, take a couple of minutes to do a nail check. Start with your feet to see if your toenails need trimming or a little extra cleaning. While most people aren’t going to see your feet during the day, untrimmed nails can lead to ingrown toenails or damaged socks.
After checking your toenails, check your fingernails. Make sure they are trimmed properly and see if they need a bit of extra cleaning. You can buy a nail kit for less than $10 from most any department store with tools to keep all of you nails properly groomed.
Moving on to Manscaping
After your nail check, move on to manscaping. Outside of your shower, this will probably take the most time out of your daily routine. For those who prefer to stay cleanly shaved, the best way to keep this look is with a single blade razor and using an natural shave bar from Dr. Squatch.
Commercial shaving creams contain chemicals and can lead to irritation and razor burns. Dr. Squatch’s natural shave bar nourishes your face and makes the hairs on your face easier to remove. In some cases, you may not even need aftershave post shaving.
If you have a mustache or beard, check your man fur to see if it needs any trimming. You should probably do some touch-ups every two to three days, depending on how quickly your facial hair grows. To keep your beard or mustache looking its best, use Dr. Squatch beard oil. It helps nourish the hairs on your face and keeps it looking healthy and soft.

After manscaping your face, move to the rest of your body as needed. Start with your ears and nose and trim any noticeable hairs. Check that your eyebrows aren’t overgrown, bushy, or that you’re starting to form a unibrow. Address these areas as needed.
Finally, if you keep other areas of your body trimmed, then check to see if any maintenance is required. You’ll maintenance these areas less often, but it doesn’t hurt to look over them daily as part of your routine.
Make Your Dentist Proud
The best hygiene routines include oral hygiene. You want to keep your teeth healthy. Make sure that you’re brushing and flossing twice a day. Your best bet is to go with a toothpaste with some type of enamel protection along with a whitening agent. This will help protect your teeth throughout the day.
Regular oral hygiene helps to prevent damage to your teeth and also helps to keep your breath fresh. If you have problems with bad breath, consider using mouthwash to help kill some of the odor-causing germs that brushing misses.
Preventing Daily Odors
Having good hygiene also includes preventing odors. There are a couple of things you should do daily to help reduce daily odors that are unavoidable. The first is underarm odor, which means using some form of deodorant/cologne. The purpose of deodorant is to prevent odors, not to make you smell pretty. Pick a product that does its job at preventing sweat and odor, but shy away from those that announce your arrival with a cloud of scent.
Next, many of us have smelly feet or shoes. Consider using some form of foot powder or spray for your shoes to help reduce daily foot sweat and odor. You can also opt for some odor reducing insoles in your shoes to give some extra defense against foot odor.
Picking the Right Scent
If you prefer to wear cologne, make smart choices in your scent. Many commercial colognes have overpowering scents that make people want to walk in the other direction. Dr. Squatch makes a line of natural colognes with masculine scents that enhance your natural scent rather than overpower it with a cloud of chemicals.
Don’t drench yourself in cologne, but instead put a couple of small dabs on your neck and wrists to allow the scent to waft naturally rather than smacking someone in the face with your scent. If someone can smell you more than 2 ft away, then you’re wearing too much cologne.

Takes Less Time Than You Think
Looking over this list, you’re probably wondering how you can do all of this in a rush. The reality is that this routine can be completed in about 15 minutes as not every item is going to apply to your day. You’re not going to have to trim your nails daily, nor will you have to do more than facial manscaping daily.
To help speed this process along, make sure you have all of your grooming items in one place and readily accessible so that you can take an assembly line approach to getting ready. Once you have your routine established, you will be amazed at how quick and easy it is to keep a daily grooming routine.
